Lawrence’s practice focuses on representing current and former employees in a broad range of employment discrimination and wrongful termination matters, including race and gender discrimination and sexual harassment. In addition to employment matters, Lawrence represents attorneys in disciplinary proceedings.
Originally from Raleigh, North Carolina, Lawrence moved to Iowa in 2014 to work at Iowa Legal Aid, a non-profit organization that provides legal representation in civil matters to low-income individuals. Lawrence specialized in landlord-tenant disputes, public benefits appeals, and domestic violence family law cases. After leaving Iowa Legal Aid, Lawrence worked as an Assistant City Attorney for the City of Des Moines and an Assistant Attorney General for the State of Iowa. Lawrence also served as an Assistant Ethics Counsel for the Iowa Supreme Court’s Attorney Disciplinary Board, where he was responsible for investigating and prosecuting alleged violations of Iowa’s Rules of Professional Conduct for lawyers.
Lawrence received his Bachelor of Arts in Political Science from the University of North Carolina and his law degree from North Carolina Central University School of Law. He is currently admitted to Federal District Court for both the Northern and Southern Districts of Iowa, as well as Iowa State Courts. He is a member of the National Employment Lawyer’s Association and the Iowa State Bar Association.
Lawrence lives in West Des Moines with his wife and two children. When he’s not practicing law, Lawrence is an avid runner.
